Ten Trends That Inspire How We Actually Get Dressed

As the AW24 collections begin to hit the stores, the catwalks can provide inspiration but equally feel worlds apart from what we’re actually wearing every day. At Wrapp10, we aim to help you get dressed like the best version of yourself—by reimagining what’s already in your wardrobe and mindfully adding new pieces to create effortlessly stylish looks. So how do these runway looks translate into real life? From corporate power dressing to off-duty boho, here are the ten trends that will shape how we dress this season—and more importantly, how we’ll actually wear them.

1. Back to Business

Corporate dressing has never looked so inviting. The AW24 shows provided an aspirational but relatable take on workwear that prioritizes comfort without sacrificing style. Think relaxed barrel-leg trousers paired with sweater vests and mannish brogues, or sleek, pointed kitten heels that mean business without the blisters. The skirt suit reigned supreme with iterations at Prada, Fendi, Dior and Chanel to suit every bodyshape. The easiest styling trick which popped up repeatedly? Layer a slim-knit roll neck under virtually anything—blazers, coats, even shirts to add interest. And if there was ever a season to invest in the oversized '80s-inspired power coat it’s now.

2. The New Trench

We know it’s likely that you already own a trench coat, but this season is about making it work harder. It’s not just about the coat itself, but how you style it. Try layering bold prints or strong colors underneath or lean into its preppy personality teaming your trench with mannish separates. For evening, throw it over a lace-trimmed silk slip dress— the kind of high-low mix that feels effortlessly sophisticated.

3. Into the blue

Is there any fabric as iconic—and endlessly adaptable—as denim? This season, designers reimagined it in ways that felt truly accessible and celebrated denim in all its forms. Double up on denim with confidence: teaming dark denim co-ords or tuck skinny jeans into over-the-knee boots and pair with an oversized sweater. And be sure to invest in a pair of wide leg jeans with a perfect fit.

4. Check mate

What’s more quintessentially British than countryside-inspired plaids, tweeds, and checks? AW24 takes a modern approach to heritage fabrics, layering them with unexpected pieces. Mix a tweed blazer with leather trousers, or pair a plaid skirt with chunky boots for a nod to tradition with a contemporary twist. The key piece here is of course the tweed or check blazer. An endlessly useful styling piece. If this is missing in your wardrobe it’s the season to invest.

5. Leather loving

Leather is having a moment beyond the classic biker jacket. From navy to brown and burgundy - in liquid drapes or boxy shapes, leather reigned supreme at the shows. Suede too - a forever staple of autumn is having a moment with boxy suede jackets and suede handbags providing an easy way to buy into the trend. Pair a camel coloured suede jacket with a blue menswear inspired shirt and jeans for a go-to everyday look, but come evening slip into a leather jumpsuit and heels.

6. Coffee and Lipstick

AW24 served up a surprising colour combination that feels both fresh and effortless: lipstick red and latte brown. Whether it’s a striking pillar-box red blouse paired with brown leather trousers or a red dress tempered by earthy accessories, this duo is set to be the standout colour pairing of the season and an easy way to make pieces you already own look new.

7. Leopard Print

For some, leopard print is a neutral; for others, it’s a bold statement, for AW24 it was everywhere. From mod-60s inspired coats at Dior to leopard tights at Zimmeramn and Isabel Marant, this timeless print was thrown into the spotlight. Leopard is a great print to dip your paw into if your tendency is to choose block colour. Team with shades of brown or with classic back piece for a timeless look that won’t date.

8. Balancing Act

The art of contrast: AW24 encouraged us to mix light, feminine pieces with heavier, more structured elements another way of mixing pieces you already own to create new, unexpected combinations. Picture a delicate sheer lace skirt paired with an oversized grey sweater or a longline boxy jacket. It’s all about finding that perfect balance between softness and strength, creating a look that’s as dynamic as it is wearable.

9. Luxe Boho

Chemena Kamali’s debut show for Chloé celebrated luxe bohemian dressing. While the full boho look can feel overwhelming, the trick is to break it down into it’s key parts : over-the-knee boots paired with floaty dresses or oversized knits, or wide-leg jeans matched with romantic blouses. It’s about mixing the relaxed, carefree spirit of boho with a dose of polish for an elevated, wearable look.

10. Effortless Styling

Catwalk images can often feel a world away from what we reach for everyday. Read: leggings, quilted coats or comfy flay shoes. So it’s refreshing when designers present collections that  inspire you to mix simple staples in unexpected ways.  Some easy-to-replicate styling hacks we filtered out this season: don’t be afraid to mix shades of charcoal grey cream navy and black , belt everything - from an oversized coat to define your waist to a cardigan, layer puffer coats over smart blazers or team your favourite leggings with ballet pumps and a cashmere knits.
